Women's Tennis Wins Friday; Sunday Matches Cancelled

WINONA, Minn. ( – Taking on Luther College (Iowa) on Friday in Winona, Minn., the UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team picked up a 6-3 victory. The Blugolds were also supposed to face two more opponents Sunday in Madison but the matches have been cancelled due to poor weather.


The Blugolds swept doubles play and won three more singles matches.

The doubles team of Mary Frassetto (Sr.-Oshkosh, Wis./West) and Madison Rossebo (Jr.-Minnetonka, Minn.) dropped the fewest number of games as they won 8-3 at No. 2.

Katie Gillman (Sr.-Red Wing, Minn.), playing at No. 1 singles, lost just one game as she won 6-0, 6-1.

Eau Claire is now 13-3 on the season while Luther drops to 14-6.

The Blugolds will be back in action at home Thursday against the College of St. Scholastica (Minn.), a match that was originally scheduled to be played in Duluth, Minn. on April 4. The event is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m.
