Eau Claire, WI (Blugolds.com)- The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team improves to 4-1 on the season, defeating UW-River Falls 9-0 Wednesday October 4.
Natalie Wijesinghe (Apple Valley, Minn.) led the way for the Blugolds at number one singles with a dominating 6-1, 6-3 win. Sarah Henderson (Prior Lake,Minn.) picked up another convincing win at number two singles defeating Deering (UW-River Falls) 6-0, 6-1 .Molly Stewart (Amery,Wis.) had no problem at the number three slot winning 6-1 6-0. Emily Cooper (White Bear, Minn. / Mahtomedi) and Kendra Berry (Duluth, Minn/East) both earned wins at four and five singles, respectively. Hannah Zevenbergen finished the singles sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Schimanski (UW-River Falls).
In doubles action Henderson and Wijesinghe made quick work of the number one doubles pair from UW-River Falls, winning 8-1. Coper and Stewart followed suit with a 8-2 win,and Berry with partner Zevenbergen finished the sweep with an 8-0 win.
The Blugold women will host Winona State on Friday October 6, and UW-La Crosse and Hamline University on October 7.
