Wrestling falls to Eagles

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. ( – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team returned to the mat at the McPhee Center on Wednesday. The Blugolds hosted UW-La Crosse, falling to the Eagles by a score of 25-12.


Three Blugolds tallied victories on the night, the first coming from Thomas Severson (So. - Marathon/D.C. Everest) at 133. The sophomore earned a 7-6 decision over La Crosse's Josh Stenger.

James Huntley (Jr. – Woodbury, MN/Stillwater) picked up a win at 197, defeating Adam Gusty with a 9-4 decision.

The last Blugold win came in the final bout of the night, as heavyweight Austen Hakes (Jr. – River Falls) took the win over Konrad Ernst due to injury (5:18).

The Blugolds (1-1) will be back in action Saturday as they host the 8-Man Battles on Saturday with Augustana, Buena Vista and Concordia-Moorhead.
