Cortland won the dual 28-22, sending Eau Claire into the seventh place match.

Against Springfield, the Blugolds fell into a 12-0 hole after two matches. From there, though, Eau Claire rallied together seven straight wins, with the five matches between 157- and 197-pounds earning bonus points. Meyer and Carter Focht (Sr.-Pine Springs, MN/Mahtomedi) earned decision wins at 141- and 149-pounds. With the win, Meyer secured his spot on the All-Tournament Team for earning the most team points per match at his weight class. He did so in only four matches.

For the bonus point streak, David Dudych (Fr.-West Dundee, IL/Harry D. Jacobs), Hunter DeLeon (So.-Anoka, MN), and Tyler Vogt (Sr.-Owatonna, MN) all strung together major decisions. Evan Lawrence (Fr.-Hugo, MN/Mahtomedi) got a fall at 184-pounds, and then Bloy added another major to give the Blugolds 28 team points. They defeated Springfield by a final score of 28-18.

After a successful trip to Pennsylvania, the Blugolds return to the midwest with a tough task ahead. Their next competition takes place on Sunday, January 21 against the top-ranked team in the nation, Augsburg University. They'll face the Auggies on the road as they travel to Minneapolis for a 3:00 p.m. start.
