Gymnastics defeats Gusties

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. ( – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team defeated Gustavus Adolphus College on Saturday, winning by a score of 185.100 to 183.825.


The Blugolds defeated the Gusties 45.325 to 44.600 on the uneven parallel bars but were edged on vault, 46.850 – 46.825. On beam, the Blugolds tallied a 46.025 to the Gusties 44.825 to win the event but Gustavus took the floor excerise, 47.000 to 46.925.

Victoria Perron (So. – Inver Grove Heights, MN/Simley) won the vault (9.600) and the score ties for fifth all-time for the program.  Ashley Benes (So.- Grand Rapids, MN) also has a strong performance on vault, taking second (9.500).

The Blugolds dominated on beam, as Clare Mascia (9.650), Hannah Lewis (Sr. – Saline, MI) (9.300) and Tayla Thome (Fr. – Medina, OH/Buckeye) (9.30) took the top three spots.

On bars, Megan Fayler (Jr. - Afton, MN/Stillwater) took second with a score of 9.475 while Kiya Bjorge (Sr. - Kennewick, WA/Southridge) was second on the floor exercise.
