RIVER FALLS, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team played in River Falls on Wednesday night. After a very close game, the Blugolds lost in overtime with a final score of 77-83.
UW-Eau Claire was tied at 17 with UW-River Falls after one quarter of play. However, the Blugolds were outscored by River Falls 20-26 in the second quarter, sending them into the locker room trailing 37-43.
The Blugolds went on a 6-0 run and tied things back up to start the third quarter. Although there were multiple ties throughout the game, Eau Claire was up 71-68 with just seconds remaining but River Falls sank a three to send the game into overtime. River Falls was able to out-pace the Blugolds 12-6 in overtime to secure the win.
Hallee Hoeppner (Jr. – Winona, MN) finished the night with 23 points and five rebounds while Maddie Dunathan (Sr. – Hortonville, WI) recorded 17 points, five rebounds and five assists. Kelsey Bakken (Jr. – Marshall, WI) also chipped in with 13 points and nine rebounds. The Blugolds shot 42.1 percent from behind the arc and 41.8 percent from the field.
