AUSTIN, Texas-(Blugolds.com)- The University of Eau Claire men's tennis team cruised to their second straight win, defeating Concordia (TX) 8-1 on Wednesday.
The Blugolds got out ahead of Concordia 3-0 in doubles action. Daniel Schoen (Brookfield, Wis/ Central) with partner Andrew Dahl (Fort Atkinson, Wis.) started the Blugolds off with an 8-5 triumph at number one doubles. Grant Mauthe (Neenah, Wis.) and Zach Janssen (Green Bay, Wis. / Notre Dame) earned a 8-2 victory at number two doubles. While Adam Burk (Forest Lake, Minn. /Tortino Grace) and Renan Barros (Itajai, Santa Catarina, Brazil) had a convincing 8-1 vicotry at the number three doubles slot.
Up 3-0 heading into singles play, Eau Claire defeated Concordia in five of six singles matches. Dahl picked up another win at the second position, Barros and Mauthe both had another great day picking up victories at the three and four spots, respectively. Schoen won 6-2, 6-2 at the five spot and Burk defeated Irvin (CC) 6-0, 6-1 at the sixth position.
The Blugolds look to pick up two wins tomorrow before they head home, they will face Sul Ross St. and Schreiner at 9:00am and 10:00am, respectively.
