Men's Golf Finishes Second at UW-Stout Invitational

MENOMONIE, Wis. ( – Competing in its first tournament of the spring, the UW-Eau Claire men's golf team finished in second place out of three teams at the UW-Stout Invitational at Chippewa Valley Golf Club today.


The Blugolds recorded 308 strokes while the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) won with 300 and UW-Stout took third with 310.

With 11 different Blugolds competing, four finished in the top 10 and eight finished in the top 12.

Jake Erickson (Jr.-Chaska, Minn./Academy of Holy Angels) and Eric Hagstrom (So.-Middleton, Wis.) led the Blugolds with 76 strokes (+5), tying for seventh place.

Alex Kapraun from St. Thomas won the tournament with 73 strokes while five Tommies finished in the top five.

The Blugolds will be back in action Monday and Tuesday, competing at the Bobby Krig Invitational, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.).
