Tyson Kalien, Guard, 6-1, 210, Junior, Chippewa Falls,
Kalien was the leading scorer for the Blugolds in two games this past week. In a 67-58 loss to UW-Superior Kalien led the Blugolds with 16 points making six-of-12 field goal attempts including four-of-nine three-point field goals to go with three rebounds, two assists and no turnovers in 34 minutes. In a 66-55 loss to 20th-ranked St. Norbert Kalien led all scorers with 23 points converting eight-of-18 field goals, four-of-12 three-point field goals and three-of-five free throws in 37 minutes while adding three rebounds, two assists and one steal. For the week Kalien averaged 19.5 points, three rebounds and two assists per game making 14-of-30 field goals (.467), eight-of-21 three-point field goals (.381) and three-of-six free throws (.500) while committing just one turnover on 71 minutes of play.
Rachel Egdorf, Center, 6-2, Senior, Mishicot, WI
Egdorf posted season-high totals in scoring and rebounding this past week. In a 74-58 loss at UW-Superior Egdorf came off the bench scoring nine points to go along with five rebounds in 17 minutes of play. Egdorf made four-of-six field goal attempts while adding three offensive rebounds, one assist and one block against the Yellowjackets. In a 66-51 victory at Carroll University (Wis.) Egdorf lead all players with 11 points and 9 rebounds, including five offensive rebounds, in 22 minutes of play. Egdorf made four-of-nine field goal attempts and three-of-four free throws while also adding one blocked shot. For the week Egdorf averaged 10 points, seven rebounds (3.5 offensive rebounds per game) and one blocked shot per game making eight-of-15 (.533) and four-of-eight (.500) free throws.
Brandon Wahlin, Forward, 5-8, 168, Sophomore, White Bear
Wahlin added his name to the school record book this weekend as the Blugolds went 2-0 in two non-conference games. In a 4-0 victory over the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) Wahlin assisted on the first two Blugold goals of the night including the eventual game-winning goal. In an 11-2 victory over Lawrence University (Wis.) Wahlin led all scorers with five points scoring three goals and two assists. All three Wahlin goals came off Blugold power plays and tied a school record most recently accomplished by Mike Litner against UW-Stevens Point on December 6, 1991. Wahlin was one point and one goal shy of tying Blugolds single game records for points and goals scored in a single game. Wahlin scored three of six Blugold power play goals scored against the Vikings. It was the most goals scored by the Blugolds in a single game since a 12-4 victory over Concordia (Wis.) on November 24, 2012. In two games Wahlin scored seven points on three goals and four assists over two games.
