Blugold Volleyball Player Liz Amici Named WIAC Athlete of the Week
MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire volleyball player Liz Amici (Sr.-Whitewater, Wis.) has been named a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week, WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.
Amici played in 12 sets during the week to help the Blugolds to a 5-0 record. She led the team with 42 kills and compiled a .476 hitting percentage, while also leading the team with 18 blocks. Against UW-River Falls on Oct. 19 in a 3-1 win, Amici had a match and career-high 18 kills. She also led the Blugolds against Lincoln Christian (Ill.) with 12 kills at the Slagell Classic hosted by Millikin University (Ill.). Competing four matches at the tournament, the Blugolds came away with four 3-0 victories and pushed their winning streak to eight matches. Amici was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.
