Women's Outdoor Track & Field Finishes Third in Platteville

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's outdoor track & field team finished in third place out of 11 teams at the UW-Platteville Invitational today.

The Blugolds finished the day with 108 points while UW-La Crosse won with 191.33. UW-Oshkosh was second with 147.

Eau Claire came away with three event victories on the day.

Erin Schoenfelder (Sr.-Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) won two events, the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles. She finished the 100-meter with a time of 14.81 seconds and won the 400 with a time of 1:04.03.

Winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase was Steph Sjostrom (Sr.-Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park), who came in with a time of 11:16.99, more than five seconds in front of the rest of the field.

The Blugolds will be in action again next weekend at UW-La Crosse's Phil Esten Challenge. Multi-event athletes will kick off action Thursday while the rest of the team will compete Friday.
