MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Two UW-Eau Claire student-athletes have been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athletes of the Week, WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.
Dorvinen led the UW-Eau Claire effort, picking up three wins, as the Blugolds defeated UW-Stevens Point for the first time since the 1997-98 season, while falling to St. Cloud State University (Minn.) on Oct. 29. Dorvinen raced to victory in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:12.45 and the 400-yard individual medley in just 4:44.06. The Blugolds split conference games during the week but Richter played a key role in a 3-2 win at UW-Stout on Oct. 26. She scored the Blugolds' final two goals, including the eventual game-winner, in the second half to give the Blugolds a 3-1 lead. UW-Stout scored later in the match, but the Blugolds held on for the win. UW-Eau Claire dropped a 2-1 decision at UW-Whitewater on Oct. 29.
