(blugolds.com) - Head coach of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team, Tim Fader, is to be inducted into the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III Hall of Fame on Thursday, March 9. Fader’s induction ceremony will take place in La Crosse and serve as a prelude to the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships that take place March 10-11 at the La Crosse Center.

(blugolds.com) - The culmination of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team’s 2017 season takes place this Saturday, February 25, from Memorial Auditorium in Moorhead, Minn. This time of the season is when wrestlers need to be peaking in order to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships. Ten Blugolds will have the opportunity to do just that this weekend at the 2017 NCAA Division III Wrestling West Regional.

    PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team took part in the 2017 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Wrestling Championships (presented by Culver’s) on Friday. The team finished in fifth place in the standings, but it certainly was a successful day in the sense that eight wrestlers were place winners.

    EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team hosted the 2017 edition of the Don Parker Open on Saturday afternoon. While the Blugolds started off the day strong, resulting in eight wrestlers placing for the team in a very tough tournament, they did not quite have the finish they hoped for, with only two of those eight getting wins in the final round.

(blugolds.com) - On a night that honored the five seniors on the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team, the action on the mat proved to be the story of the evening, as the Blugolds defeated the No. 20-ranked team in the nation. Thursday’s results saw the blue and gold grapplers defeat UW-Platteville by a score of 21-19.

(blugolds.com) - Following their success in Friday’s session at the Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s Zackary Sirny (Sr.-Wild Rose, WI) and Justin Karkula (Sr.-Oshkosh, WI/West) competed in the placing rounds on Saturday. The two seniors combined for a 5-1 record on the day with Karkula taking third and Sirny getting fifth place.

Of those nine, 125-pounder Zackary Sirny (Sr.-Wild Rose, WI) and heavyweight Justin Karkula (Sr.-Oshkosh, WI/West) will represent Eau Claire on the podium on Saturday afternoon as they advanced to the placing rounds on Friday.
  • Eau Claire Defeats Pointers on the Road, 21-12

    STEVENS POINT, Wis. (blugolds.com) - For the first time in over a month, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team faced a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opponent as they traveled on the road to take on UW-Stevens Point. The Blugolds earned their first WIAC win on the season, topping the Pointers by a 21-12 score. This win was the first time the Blugolds defeated UWSP since 1986.
  • Blugold Wrestling Takes Fourth Place at Budd Whitehill Duals

    WILLIAMSPORT, Penn. (blugolds.com) - After an impressive showing in day one of the Budd Whitehill Duals, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team ran into a bit more of a gauntlet on Saturday, dropping a pair of duals to conclude their trip to Pennsylvania. First, No. 25-ranked York College defeated the Blugolds 23-9, and then previously-ranked and host Lycoming College topped them 25-17 in the third place match.

(blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team followed up last season’s mid-January trip out east with yet another this year, as they take part in this weekend’s Budd Whitehill Duals at Lycoming College. Following stops at Division I powerhouses Ohio State University and Penn State University on the drive out, the Blugolds got their chance to compete themselves on Friday.

    DUBUQUE, Iowa (blugolds.com) – After nearly a month hiatus from competition, a handful of Blugold wrestlers returned to the mat on Saturday. Nine members of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team participated in the Pat Flanagan Open at Loras College with six of the grapplers finishing on the podium.

(blugolds.com) - Of the nine matches wrestled Thursday night (University of Wisconsin-Whitewater received a forfeit win at 141-pounds), the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team was victorious in four of them. Despite nearly winning half of the matches, the Blugolds were topped in the dual meet by a score of 25-12, proving the importance of bonus points in the match.

    OSHKOSH, Wis. (blugolds.com) – In what is quickly becoming a must-see event on the schedule, the second annual Chancellor’s Cup did not disappoint yet again this year. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team was victorious over UW-Oshkosh in the inaugural event last year, and the Oshkosh Titans topped the Blugolds in a very close dual Tuesday night to even the series.

Head Coach Tim Fader returns for his sophomore campaign with the Blugolds, and in addition to nearly tripling his roster after the program took many successful steps in the right direction last year, he has also brought in a young coaching staff to assist him in leading the roster full of new faces.
