Blugold Wrestlers Fall to Nationally-Ranked Eagles

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – In the first WIAC dual of the season, the UW-Eau Claire wrestling team fell 44-3 to 21st-ranked UW-La Crosse in the McPhee Physical Education Center tonight.

While La Crosse won by forfeit in the first two weight classes to get up 12-0, Blugold Nathaniel Behnke (So.-Bruce, Wis.), ranked No. 1 in the nation at 141 pounds, won the first competition of the night. He defeated UW-La Crosse's Mason Geary 7-0 to make the score 12-3. From there, the Eagles swept the Blugolds.

Eau Claire is now 0-2 on the season and 0-1 in WIAC duals while La Crosse improves to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in WIAC duals.

Saturday the Blugolds will be at the Augsburg Open in Minnesota. Competition will get underway at 9 a.m.
