Wrestling Drops WIAC Opener at Nationally-Ranked UW-Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Competing in its first WIAC match of the season, the UW-Eau Claire wrestling team fell 40-6 to 15th-ranked UW-Stevens Point at Berg Gymnasium tonight.

Two Blugolds picked up wins tonight.

At 125 pounds, Zackary Sirny (Fr.-Wild Rose, Wis.) secured a 10-5 win over Lance Fabry.

Mat Rieckhoff (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) won at 184 pounds, 4-1, over Pointers' Andy Borchardt.

Saturday the Blugolds will be at the Augsburg College Open in Minneapolis, Minn. Action begins at 9 a.m.
