Wrestling Suffers Loss to Nationally-Ranked Pointers

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team dropped a WIAC dual meet to No. 26-ranked UW-Stevens Point 47-3 in the regular season finale at the McPhee Physical Education Center today.

Mat Rieckhoff (So.-Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) picked up the Blugolds' only win as he defeated Stevens Point's Andy Borchardt at 184 pounds with a 6-1 decision. He is now 28-12 on the season.

The Blugolds also had two other close matches at 149 and 157 pounds.

At 157, Brandon Stradel (Fr.-Denmark, Wis.) fell 10-8 in overtime while Ryan Seidler (Jr.-Adams, Wis./Adams-Friendship) lost 8-6 at 149 pounds.

Stevens Point improves to 7-15 on the season and 2-3 in WIAC duals while the Blugolds drop to 5-18 overall and 0-5 in the WIAC.

Next up, the Blugolds will compete at the 2012 WIAC Championship on Feb. 26. Action will get started at 9 a.m.
