Breitbach Finishes 93rd at NCAA Championship

WAVERLY, Iowa (UWECblugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire men's cross country runner Tom Breitbach (Sr.-Muskego, Wis.) was the lone competitor representing the Blugold men at this year's NCAA Division III Championship at H. J. Max Championship Cross Country Course in Waverly, Iowa.

Breitbach came in with a 93rd place finish with a time of 25:24.6. A season ago at nationals he took 119th with a time of 26:52.

Last year the Blugold men took 16th at nationals while they sent an individual to the meet in 2008. Prior to 2008, the last time the Blugolds were represented at nationals was 2001.

Haverford won this year's national title with 87 points while UW-Platteville was the top WIAC school, taking fourth with 198 points. Stevens Point came in sixth while Oshkosh was 11th.

Taking individual honors at the meet was Anders Hulleberg from Haverford with a time of 24:22.2.
