LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire track and field teams competed in two different meets last week and over the weekend as the Blugolds sent student-athletes to the North Central Last Chance and the Eagle Open.
At the North Central Meet, Samantha Slattery (Jr. – Waunakee, WI) took seventh place in the 5K at the North Central Last Chance Meet, finishing in 17:04.87.
The Blugolds turned in strong performances at the Eagle Open hosted by UW-La Crosse, with seven Blugolds winning events for the women.
Mel Becker took first in the 1500m run with a time of 4:38.94 while Taylor Lather (Sr. – Stillwater, MN/St. Croix Prep) was third (4:48.23).
The Blugold throwers continued to dominate, with Erica Oawster (Jr. – Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial) taking first in the shot put (14.23m) and discus (49.85m) while JoHannah Theisen (Sr. – Eau Claire, WI/Regis) was third in the shot put (13.53m).
The 4x100m relay team of Amy Chen (Fr. – Fr. – Mayville, WI), Worachek, Buergi and Tommie Brenner (Jr. – Reedsburg, WI) took second with a time of 47.54 while Marin Munos (Fr. – Oswego, IL/Aurora West) was second in the high jump with a height of 1.57m.
For the men, the Blugolds turned in three second place finishes.
