Men's Tennis Edges Augustana in Madison

MADISON, Wis. ( – In a close match against Augustana College (Ill.) at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium at UW-Madison, the UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team came out on top 5-4 on Saturday.


The Blugolds dropped all three doubles matches before winning five out of six singles matches.

Will Weyenberg (Fr.-Neenah, Wis.) dropped the fewest number of games as he won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.

With the Blugolds and Augustana tied 4-4, Ryan Vande Linde (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) was able to secure the final victory to give the Blugolds the team win as he took No. 1 singles 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.

The Blugolds are now 11-5 on the season and have won six straight while Augustana drops to 8-7.

Next weekend the Blugolds will face three opponents, two at home and one on the road. They will be at the College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) on Friday before hosting St. Ambrose (Iowa) on Saturday and St. Cloud State (Minn.) on Sunday.
