Men's Swimming & Diving Edges UW-La Crosse in WIAC Dual

LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's swimming & diving team came up with a big win today, defeating UW-La Crosse 121-120.

Eau Claire completed the day with nine event victories.

Jake McDade (So.-Monona, Wis./Monona Grove) won two events, the 500-yard freestyle and the 1,000-yard freestyle. McDade was victorious in the events with times of 4:56.24 and 10:26.66, respectively.

Also picking up two wins was Corey Groshens (Sr.-St. Louis Park, Minn./Hopkins). He claimed first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.48 and was first in the 400-yard individual medley with a mark of 4:24.45.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Spencer Rose (Jr.-Brookfield, Wis./Central) won with a time of 1:46.98 and Aaron Lickel (Jr.-Madison, Wis./East) took first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.09 seconds.

Also winning a swimming event was Alex Card (Jr.-Prior Lake, Minn.) with a time of 48.31 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle.

Diver Nick Badilla (Sr.-Appleton, Wis./North) won the three-meter event with a score of 295.95.

The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Card, McDade, Ben Epperly (Jr.-Schaumburg, Ill.) and Rose took first with a time of 7:17.22.

Next weekend, the Blugolds will host MSU-Moorhead, UW-River Falls and UW-Oshkosh in the McPhee Physical Education Center.
