MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire men's swimmer Corey Groshens (Jr.-St. Louis Park, Minn./Hopkins) and women's swimmer Kirsten Lickel (Sr.-Madison, Wis./East) have been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athletes of the Week, WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.
Groshens was part of three wins this weekend as the Blugolds defeated UW-Oshkosh 159-83. He tallied two individual victories in the 200-yard breaststroke and the 400-yard individual medley with respective times of 2:17.81 and 4:30.19. He was also part of a winning 400-yard medley relay team that finished with a time of 3:43.70.
Lickel was part of two victories this weekend as the Blugolds beat UW-Oshkosh 146-95. She was part of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team that took the top spot with a time of 3:44.56 while she also won the 400-yard individual medley with a mark of 4:48.81. Lickel was also second in the 200-yard backstroke.
