MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire men's hockey player David Donnellan (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) has been named a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week, WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.
Playing in two road games last weekend, Donnellan scored two goals, while picking up one assist to help the Blugolds remain undefeated on the season. At Hamline University (Minn.) on Nov. 15, a game the Blugolds won 6-1, Donnellan scored one goal in the second period and followed with another in the third. He also assisted on the Blugolds' fourth goal, which came in the second period. The Blugolds outshot the Pipers 29-21 and stopped five power-play opportunities. In a 2-1 win over Bethel University (Minn.) on Nov. 16, Donnellan and the Blugolds gave up just one goal in the third period as the Royals led the shot total 29-26. The Royals also went 0-for-5 on power-plays. UW-Eau Claire has now won eight straight games going back to last season to tie a school record.
