Isaiah Bennis Selected NCHA Player of the Week
SAINT PAUL, Minn. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire men's hockey forward Isaiah Bennis (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) has been named Player of the Week in the NCHA Men's Conference for the week ending November 12. Bennis played a major role in a weekend sweep at St. Scholastica, keeping the Blugolds undefeated at 6-0.
In a 5-1 win last Friday, Bennis had an assist in the first period and scored goals in the second and third periods. His goal at 9:42 of the second put the Blugolds up 2-0 and proved to be the game-winner.
Saturday's game was a high-scoring, call-and-answer affair, and Bennis was right in the thick of the scoring. He scored late in the first period to tie the game 2-2, assisted on a Devin Mantha (Sr.-Sturgeon Falls, Ontario/Ann Arbor Pioneer) goal in the second that made it 3-3 and iced the game with an empty-net goal in the third to finish 7-5.
It was a six point weekend for Bennis; he had five points total last season. The career-games were also his first multi-point games of his career. The 6-0 start has vaulted UW-Eau Claire up the national rankings to No. 8. This is the best start by the Blugolds since 2008-09, when they also began 6-0.
