MIDDLETON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team ended the regular season by winning the Edgewood College Spring Quadrangular at Bishops Bay Country Club today.
The Blugolds won the tournament with 313 strokes while Edgewood College was second with 319. UW-Stout finished third with 322 and MSOE was fourth with 328.
Five Blugolds finished tied for seventh or better, including four in the top five.
Sean Murphy (Jr.-Middleton, Wis.), who golfed as an individual, led the team with 75 strokes to take second place. Kenny Rucker from Edgewood also shot 75 but claimed medalist honors with a better score on the back nine.
The Blugolds will now wait to find out if they are selected for the 2014 NCAA Division III Championship, which will be contested May 13-16 at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C. Selections for nationals will be announced Monday, May 5 at 5 p.m. (Eastern) on NCAA.com
