LEXINGTON, Ky. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team kicked off the 2012-13 season finishing in fifth place out of 17 teams at the two-round Transylvania Fall Invitational at the University Club.

Eau Claire finished with 589 strokes while Transylvania won its own invite with 576. Wittenberg University took second with 577 and Centre College was third with 580.

Leading the Blugolds was Tim McCormick (Sr.-Madison, Wis./Memorial), who finished with 143 strokes to tie for ninth. Three other Blugolds also finished in the top 30.

Wittenberg's Ben Hogenkamp claimed medalist honors in the 110-golfer field with 139 strokes.

The Blugolds will be back in action next weekend for the two-day Saint John's Fall Invitational. The teams will tee off beginning Saturday.
