Men's Golf in Third at Saint John's Spring Invite

MONTICELLO, Minn. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's golf team is in third place out of 16 teams after day one of the 2011 Saint John's Spring Invitational.

The Blugolds shot a two-round total of 581 while Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) is in the lead with 566 (-2). Saint John's University (Minn.) is in second place with 576.

Leading the Blugolds are Jamie Krula (Jr.-Chippewa Falls, Wis./Chi-Hi) and Tim McCormick (So.-Madison, Wis./Memorial). Both shot a total of 144 (+2), tied for fifth place.

Jimmy Hutchings (Jr.-Hudson, Wis.) is tied for 16th with 147 while Ben Brooks (Fr.-Beaver Dam, Wis.) is tied for 19th with 148 and Loren Churness (Sr.-Durand, Wis.) has 149, tied for 24.

Leading the 80-golfer field is Andrew Oakes from Gustavus with a score of 140 (-2).

The tournament will conclude tomorrow beginning at 11 a.m. at St. Cloud Country Club.
