EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The continued poor weather throughout the state of Wisconsin has once again affected schedules for five UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams.
The softball team’s schedule has taken the largest hit and the trend will continue this weekend. The Blugolds were scheduled to play at home Saturday and Sunday for Senior/Alumnae Weekend but all games will now be played in La Crosse. The Blugolds will face UW-La Crosse at the Omni Center in Onalaska in a doubleheader Saturday starting at 2 p.m. Sunday, they will face UW-Platteville in a doubleheader beginning at noon at the Pammel Creek Fields in the Town of Shelby.
UPDATE - April 18 at 9:40 a.m. - The Blugolds' doubleheader at UW-Stout that was scheduled for Thursday (April 18) has been postponed until April 25 at 4 p.m. The game was originally scheduled to be played April 10.
Additionally, the Blugolds’ games originally scheduled to be played April 4 vs. Luther College (Iowa) and against Saint Mary’s (Minn.) on April 25 have officially been cancelled and will not be made up.
For the outdoor track & field teams, they were scheduled to compete Thursday and Friday at the Phil Esten Challenge at UW-La Crosse but the event has been moved back to Saturday and Sunday. Multi-event athletes will compete Saturday beginning at 5:30 p.m. while Sunday’s action will get underway at 10:30 a.m.
The women’s tennis schedule was also affected. Originally scheduled to play Luther on Saturday, the event has been cancelled. However, they will still host Northwestern College (Minn.) on Saturday but the time has been moved up to 2 p.m.
The men’s golf team was also supposed to compete at the Gustavus Adolphus Invitational in Minnesota this weekend but the event has been changed to May 3-4. Portions of entire men’s golf schedule for the remainder of the season have been modified and those changes can be found online.
