Jeff Tarnowski enters his eighth season as assistant football coach for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds in 2015-2016.

In his eight seasons at UW-Eau Claire Tarnowski has had a lot of success as wide receivers coach. He developed All-Conference receivers five straight years between 2009-2014. Three of his players were named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society. In 2009 and 2011 the offensive unit led the WIAC in passing and finished in top three of total offense. He has coached school record holders Korey Jacobson, who hold the record for the most passing receptions in a game (17), and David Goodman, who is first in career receiving yards (2,348). 

Tarnowski has been in blue and gold since he started his coaching career at New Auburn High School’s varsity football team. After two years as defensive coordinator, Tarnowski became head coach of the Trojans for eight seasons between 1996-2003. In 1994, 1995, and 2001 Tarnowski’s team won the Conference Championships. His team made WIAA State Playoffs five seasons in a row between 1994-1998 and again in 2001.

Tarnowski has worked in management as fitness center director/manager at both Barron Area Community Center and Bloomer Athletic Club. He planned, implemented and evaluated sports training programs.

Tarnowski graduated from UW-Eau Claire with his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology degree and minor in psychology and coaching. He earned his Masters of Education in Professional Development-Human Performance/Kinesiology at UW-Eau Claire as well.

He has two children, Aubrey (6) and James (3).
