EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire football team has announced its 10-game 2013 schedule, which will feature a Friday game as well as a game against an opponent from the West Coast.
The Blugolds will play on the road the first two weeks, its season-opener at NCAA Division III runner-up University of St. Thomas (Minn.) on September 7 and will follow with a contest at Saint John's University (Minn.) the following Saturday.
After a bye week, the Blugolds will play their first home game on September 28 against Pacific Lutheran University from Tacoma, Wash., a team that played in the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs in 2012. It will be the first game ever between the two teams. It will also be the Blugolds' Hall of Fame Game.
A rare Friday night game will be played at UW-Whitewater the following week (October 18). The Blugolds have played 59 games on Friday in school history but have not competed in one since 1965. Prior to 1946, Friday games were fairly standard but since then, the Blugolds have only played seven games on a Friday.
The Blugolds will then be home October 26 against UW-River Falls. The following two weekends Eau Claire will take on UW-Stout and UW-Oshkosh and will wrap up the regular season at UW-La Crosse in a game that will be televised live on WQOW TV 18 and WXOW TV 19 in the Eau Claire and La Crosse areas.
