MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Patrick Moore and Courtney Wittig have each been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athletes of the Week, it was announced today by Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations Matt Stanek.
Moore had a big week for the Blugolds men's hockey team, leading them in two road victories. On Nov. 18 at Concordia University (Wis.), he had one goal on five shots and two assists in the Blugolds’ 5-2 win. Moore followed that up with two goals on three shots and added one assist in a 5-3 triumph at Lake Forest College (Ill.) on Nov. 19.
Women's hockey forward Courtney Wittig scored two goals on four shots in the Blugolds’ first win over No. 2-ranked UW-River Falls since 2008. She tallied back-to-back goals giving the Blugolds a 3-0 lead going into the final period of a 4-2 victory.
The men's hockey team will look to win their fourth straight game Nov. 22 at home at 7pm. The women will travel to St. Mary's (Minn.) Nov. 26.
