Women's Soccer - Defense: Ashley O’Connell, Defender, 5-5, Freshman, Appleton, Wis./EastIn two games this week, both of which the Blugolds won 1-0, O’Connell and the rest of the Blugold defense allowed a total of 18 shots while Eau Claire recorded 30. Against St. Olaf College (Minn.) on Wednesday, the Blugolds gave up 13 shots while allowing only five, including just three on-goal, against UW-Platteville on Saturday. The win over the Pioneers on Saturday gave the Blugolds their seventh straight victory to tie the seventh longest winning streak in school history.
Women's Soccer - Offense: Katie Richter, Forward, 5-5, Senior, Waukesha, Wis./WestRichter had the Blugolds’ lone goal Saturday against UW-Platteville in a 1-0 win, helping the team to its seventh straight victory to tie the seventh longest winning streak in school history. She found the back of the net against the Pioneers at 68:31 for her fourth goal of the year. Richter had two shots, both on goal, in that game, after compiling two shots on goal Wednesday as the Blugolds beat St. Olaf College (Minn.) 1-0.
Women's Tennis - Singles: Taylor Heltne, Senior, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./SimleyIn two matches this weekend, Heltne recorded two No. 1 singles victories against conference opponents, helping the Blugolds to two team wins. Friday against UW-Stevens Point, a match the Blugolds won 9-0, Heltne secured a 6-1, 6-1 win over Rachel Brown. Against UW-Oshkosh on Saturday, which the Blugolds defeated 8-1, she beat Preslee Nolte 6-3, 7-6. For the season, she is now 8-1 in dual competitions at No. 1 singles, winning eight straight.
Volleyball - Emily Neave, Setter, 5-7, Senior, Salem, Wis./Westosha CentralCompeting in two of the Blugolds’ three matches this week, Neave led the team in setting twice as the Blugolds went 3-0. In a 3-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh on Saturday, Neave had 37 set assists after finishing with 45 against the College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) on Wednesday, a match the Blugolds won 3-1. Against the Saints, she also led the match with 18 digs. For the week, Neave compiled 82 set assists, 25 digs, four service aces, four block assists and four kills.
