With the Blugolds driving with less than three minutes remaining, Janus picked off a pass in the end zone, giving the Blugolds the ball back and they were able to run out the clock after recording two first downs on the final drive.
Neu led the Blugolds in rushing and passing as they picked up their first win of the season Saturday, defeating UW-Stout 21-13 for Homecoming. Neu threw two touchdown passes as he went 16-for-25 for 181 yards. He also finished with 93 rushing yards and one touchdown. Neuâs rushing touchdown came with less than two seconds remaining in the third quarter as he found an opening and scrambled for 32 yards to the end zone, helping give the Blugolds a 14-10 lead, a lead they never gave up.
Goettl returned two kickoffs for 52 yards Saturday on Homecoming as the Blugolds defeated UW-Stout 21-13 for their first win of the season. His first kickoff return of 16 yards came early in the second quarter while he had a 36-yard return at the start of the second half.
Easker placed seventh overall with an 8,000-meter time of 26:05.9 to help the Blugolds to a third-place finish at the University of Minnesotaâs Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday. A total of 272 runners and 27 teams competed in the event.
McCormick helped lead the Blugolds to a sixth place finish in the final tournament of the fall at the Twin Cities Classic, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College. He tied for 11th place with 222 strokes. On day one, he led the entire field after shooting a 68, which tied for a tournament low with two others.
Marco and Katz advanced to the second round of the 2012 USTA/ITA Regional Doubles Championships in St. Peter, Minn. this weekend. The pair won its first match 9-7 but then fell 8-2 in the second round.
Competing at the 2012 Midwest Open Championships in St. Peter, Minn. this weekend, Parman finished with a 3-1 record as he advanced to the fourth round. He won three straight matches but narrowly fell in the fourth round. Parman won with scores of 6-4, 6-1 in the first round, 6-2, 6-0 in the second and 6-1, 6-1 in the third. In the fourth round, he won the first set 6-3, but then fell 7-6, 6-3.
Williamson finished third overall and helped the Blugold women win the Saint Maryâs No Limit Invitational on Friday in Winona, Minn. Williamson covered the challenging 6,000-meter course in a time of 24:34.9.
Moore was part of a defense that allowed just 23 shots, only 12 of which were on-goal, as the Blugolds won 5-1 over Luther College (Iowa) on Wednesday and 4-2 over UW-Oshkosh, a team ranked No. 15 in the NSCAA national poll and No. 1 in the North Region, on Saturday. The Blugolds are currently on a four-game winning streak.
The Blugolds recorded two victories this week to push their winning streak to four games. On Saturday, hosting UW-Oshkosh, a team ranked No. 15 in the NSCAA national poll and No. 1 in the North Region, LeGate scored the gameâs first goal and picked up an assist on what proved to be the game-winning goal. The Blugolds went on to win the match 4-2, handing the Titans their first loss of the season. Wednesday in a 5-1 win over Luther College (Iowa), LeGate finished with two shots, including one on-goal.
Competing in the No. 2 doubles position, the duo finished the week 3-0. Facing UW-River Falls on Wednesday, a team the Blugolds beat 8-1, the pair won 8-3. On Saturday, the Blugolds took on the College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) and Macalester College (Minn.), and beat them 9-0 and 8-1. Bachmeier and Johnson won their respective doubles matches 8-1 and 8-2.
In three matches this week, Johnson went undefeated at No. 4 singles. She opened the week with a 6-0, 6-2 win in a conference contest at UW-River Falls on Wednesday and the Blugolds won 8-1. Against the College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) on Saturday, she won 6-2, 6-3 and the Blugolds went on to win 9-0. Facing Macalester College (Minn.), which the Blugolds defeated 8-1, later on Saturday, she picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win.
In six matches this week, Satterlee recorded a total of 69 kills, 14 set assists, 29 digs and 20 total blocks as the Blugolds went 4-2. She finished in double digits in kills in five out of the six matches, leading the Blugolds in kills Saturday against St. Norbert College with 10. Satterlee hit .253 for the week, including a .700 performance against UW-Superior on Saturday. With the Blugolds going 3-1 at the St. Norbert College Tournament on Friday and Saturday, Satterlee was named to the All-Tournament Team.
