Men's Tennis - Ryan Vande Linde, Junior, Eau Claire, Wis./MemorialVande Linde went undefeated this weekend playing two No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles matches as the Blugolds won 9-0 against both opponents. Against St. Ambrose on Friday, he won 6-0, 6-4 in singles play while he and partner Joe Meier won 8-4 in doubles competition. Saturday facing Loras College, he won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles while he and his partner Meier picked up an 8-1 doubles win.
Softball - Position: Jenny Hess, Secondbase, 5-6, Senior, Senior, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./LincolnHess was instrumental in two Blugold victories Saturday at the Rosemount Irish Sports Dome in Minnesota. Eau Claire opened its season defeating the College of St. Benedict (Minn.) 8-0 and followed with an 8-4 victory over the Blazers in game two. In game one, Hess led the Blugolds with three hits and three runs, to go along with one RBI. She also stole three bases. After striking out in her initial at-bat, Hess then had three straight singles in the third, fifth and seventh innings. She continued her hitting streak in the second game with three more singles in a row. Hess stole two more bases in game two while finishing with one run and one RBI. For the weekend, Hess led the team batting with a .750 average (6-for-8) and tied for a team-high four runs. She went 5-for-5 stealing bases. In the field, she started both game at secondbase and recorded one putout with five assists and no errors.
Gymnastics - All-Around: Danielle Schulzetenberg, Senior, Maple Grove, Minn.Thursday at Winona State University (Minn.), Schulzetenberg won the all-around competition as she finished with a score of 35.000. On the balance beam she took third with 9.150 points and was fourth in the floor exercise with a score of 9.350. On the vault, she finished tied for fifth with 9.200 points and was 12th on the uneven bars with 7.300.
