As the Blugolds took third place at UW-La Crosse’s Phil Esten Challenge on Friday, Genovese won the discus throw. He finished with a mark of 51.23 meters (168-01). Genovese was also fifth in the hammer throw and 13th in the shot put.
Dennis was part of two event victories as the Blugolds finished in third place at UW-La Crosse’s Phil Esten Challenge on Friday. He took first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.42 seconds and was part of the winning 4x400-meter relay team that won with a time of 3:15.70, more than four seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
Meier helped the Blugolds go 2-1 this weekend facing in-state opponents. At No. 5 singles, Meier opened with a 6-4, 6-3 win against CJ Schwind from La Crosse on Friday and then defeated Oshkosh's Jason Alexander 6-2, 6-2 Saturday morning. Meier then beat Whitewater's Erik Scanlan 7-6, 3-6, 10-7 to finish the weekend. He finished the regular season winning seven consecutive singles matches.
Meinen pitched two complete games this week and finished with a 2-0 record. Against St. Norbert College on Saturday, she pitched a career-high nine strikeouts and gave up just four hits and one run as the Blugolds won 2-1. Facing UW-La Crosse on Wednesday, Meinen gave up only two hits and two runs, neither of which was earned, while striking out five batters in a 3-2 Blugold win. For the week, she had a 0.50 ERA.
Fischer played a key role in helping the Blugolds finish the week 4-0. In a doubleheader at St. Norbert College on Saturday, she drove in the game winning runs in both games. In game one, Fischer hit a single in the top of the 10th inning, helping give the Blugolds the 4-3 win while she doubled in game two in the top of the seventh, which brought home a run and gave the Blugolds a 2-1 lead which they hung on to the rest of the way. For the week, she went 11-for-18 at the plate, a batting average of .611. Fischer scored a team-high four runs and recorded three doubles and a home run while also finishing with three RBI. She had a slugging percentage of .944 and an on-base percentage of .611 while also stealing two bases. Fischer also had three putouts and one assist.
At the Phil Esten Challenge on Friday, where the Blugolds took third place, Baranek claimed second in the triple jump with a distance of 11.62 meters (38-1.50). She also finished 11th in the long jump.
Rindy took the top spot in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 38:04.23 as the Blugolds finished in third place Friday at UW-La Crosse’s Phil Esten Challenge. Her time was more than 10 seconds in front of the rest of the field.
Heltne won one singles and one doubles match as the Blugolds defeated Northwestern College (Minn.) 9-0 on Friday. Playing at No. 1 singles, she won 6-2, 6-1 and won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles with partner Katie Gillman. Wrapping up the regular season, she won eight straight doubles and singles matches.
