Competing in three events this weekend at the UW-Platteville Invitational, where the Blugolds took fourth place out of 11 teams, Dennis won one event while taking second and third in two others. He took the top spot in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.67 seconds and was second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.70, three-hundredths of a second behind the first place finisher. Dennis was also part of the 4x100-meter relay team that took third with a time of 42.15 seconds.
Minear went undefeated this weekend, winning two singles and two doubles matches. Against St. Scholastica on Friday, he won the No. 4 singles match 6-2, 6-1 while he and partner Chris Kuna won at No. 1 doubles 8-3. The Blugolds went on to beat the Saints 8-1. Against Edgewood College on Sunday, a team the Blugolds beat 9-0, he won his No. 4 singles match 6-2, 6-1 and his No. 1 doubles match 8-3. For the season he is now 14-7 in singles play and 15-6 with partner Kuna in doubles.
Wishau made three appearances this week and finished 2-1 in the circle as the Blugolds went 4-2. In a 3-0 victory over UW-Stout on Wednesday, Wishau pitched a complete game on the way to recording her third shutout of the year. In that game, she allowed only three hits while striking out five batters. She also pitched four innings Sunday against Blackburn (Ill.), a team the Blugolds beat 11-1 in five innings. She came way allowing just one hit and one run while striking out four batters. Saturday against 13th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University, Wishau pitched six innings and struck out four batters but gave up six hits and four runs, only two of which were earned, as the Blugolds fell 4-1. For the week, she pitched 17 innings and allowed 10 hits and only three earned runs for an ERA of 1.24. Wishau had a total of 13 strikeouts in three games.
For the second straight week, Bromelkamp hit better than .500 as she averaged .588, recording a team-high 10 hits in 17 at-bats. Three of her hits were home runs, including two in an 11-1 win in five innings over Blackburn (Ill.) on Sunday, while she also had two doubles. Bromelkamp led the Blugolds with 10 RBI and finished with 21 totals bases for a slugging percentage of 1.235. She also scored four runs during the week. Against UW-Stout on Wednesday, Bromelkamp hit a three-run homer and the Blugolds went on to win the game 9-3. She finished that game with six RBI and was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, recording doubles in her other two at-bats. For the week, she also had 26 putouts and three assists with just one error.
Johnson finished the week with a 2-0 singles and 2-0 doubles record. Friday against St. Scholastica, she won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles while her and partner Gretchen Bachmeier won No. 2 doubles 8-4. The Blugolds beat the Saints 8-1. Sunday against Edgewood College, a team the Blugolds beat 9-0, Johnson won 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 singles spot and recorded an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles with partner Bachmeier. Johnson is now 16-9 in singles play on the year and 21-7 with Bachmeier in doubles play.
