Men's Tennis - Chris Kuna, Senior, Edina, Minn.Kuna won two No. 1 singles matches and one out of two No. 1 doubles matches as the Blugolds split wins this weekend. Against Augustana (Ill.) on Friday, a team the Blugolds lost to 5-4, he won 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 in singles play while he and partner Joey Minear narrowly fell 8-6 at No. 1 doubles. Facing Macalester (Minn.) on Saturday, a team the Blugolds beat 8-1, Kuna won 6-3, 6-1 in singles play and 8-3 in doubles. For the season, he is 11-10 overall in singles play and is 13-5 with Minear in doubles competition.
Softball: Pitcher - Laura Raflik, Righthanded Pitcher, 5-5, Freshman, Plover, Wis./PacelliRaflik pitched in two out of six games this week in a total of 5.2 innings. In game two against UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, she picked up her first win of the season and she struck out two batters and allowed just two hits and no runs in 3.1 innings as the Blugolds won 10-6. She also pitched 2.1 innings against UW-Platteville on Saturday and allowed just two hits as the Blugolds won 13-4. For the week, Raflik finished with a 0.00 ERA.
Softball: Position - Taylor Pierce, Infield, 5-2, Freshman, Green Bay, Wis./AshwaubenonStarting six games this week, Pierce helped the Blugolds to a 4-2 record and a 3-1 conference record as they opened conference play. She led the team with 11 hits in 21 at-bats for a .524 batting average. Three of her hits were doubles and one was a home run while she also finished with six RBI and four runs. Against UW-Stevens Point on Saturday in game one, the Blugolds were down 7-6 in the seventh inning and Pierce managed to hit a three-run, walk-off home run to left field to give the Blugolds the 9-7 victory. For the week, she had a .810 slugging percentage, a .565 on-base percentage and stole six bases while finishing with nine putouts and six assists.
Women's Tennis - Taylor Heltne, Junior, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./SimleyHeltne went undefeated this weekend, winning two No. 1 singles matches and two No. 1 doubles matches. Against St. Catherine (Minn.) on Saturday, a team the Blugolds beat 9-0, Heltne won 6-3, 6-4 in singles play while winning 8-5 with partner Katie Gillman at No. 1 doubles. Later in the afternoon in a 7-2 win over Bethel Univ. (Minn.), she won 6-1, 6-0 in singles play and 8-0 in doubles. Heltne is now 17-7 in singles competition and 21-4 in doubles play this season.
