Men's Tennis - Ryan Vande Linde, Sophomore, Eau Claire, Wis./MemorialVande Linde went 4-1 at No. 2 singles this week as the Blugolds finished 3-2 on their Spring Break trip to Hilton Head Island, S.C. He opened with three straight victories, defeating his Allegheny, Pa. opponent 3-6, 6-4, 15-13 to start the week and followed with 6-4, 6-3 and 6-0, 6-1 wins over Centre College, Ky. and Nebraska Wesleyan University, respectively. After falling to St. Thomas, Minn. on the fourth day of the trip, he recovered to win his final match over Carleton College, Minn. 6-4, 6-3. For the season, he now holds a 15-5 overall singles record.
Softball: Pitcher - Emma Wishau, Lefthanded Pitcher, 5-11, Sophomore, Waterford, Wis./UnionWishau finished the week 2-2 as she made five appearances on the Blugolds’ Spring Break trip to Florida for the NTC Spring Games. Against third-ranked Eastern Connecticut State University she gave up just two hits and one run as the Blugolds fell 1-0 while she also pitched against Tufts University (Mass.), which is now ranked No. 25, a game the Blugolds also lost 1-0. On the final day of the trip, she allowed just three hits and gave up no runs over six innings in two games while finishing the week giving up just 15 hits and eight runs, only four of which were earned. She had an ERA of 1.25 for the week.
Softball: Position - Sarah Fern, Firstbase, 5-9, Junior, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Park CenterFern played a key role in helping the Blugolds on their Spring Break trip to Florida for the NTC Spring Games. Starting eight games, she led the Blugolds with a slugging percentage of .706 and recorded five RBI. Fern also had a team-best two home runs in 17 at-bats, both of which came against Bethel University (Minn.), a game the Blugolds won 8-2. For the week she scored two runs and had five hits for a .294 batting average. On defense, she accumulated 55 putouts and had no errors.
Women's Tennis - Mary Frassetto, Sophomore, Oshkosh, Wis./WestFrassetto went undefeated in doubles play this past week as the Blugolds competed on Spring Break in Hilton Head Island, S.C. In the No. 3 spot, Frassetto and her partner Lexi DeMario won 8-4 on the first two days over Allegheny, Pa. and Nebraska Wesleyan. The pair then won 8-2 over St. Thomas, Minn. on March 21 and closed Spring Break with an 8-0 win over Smith College (Mass.) on March 22. On the season, the duo holds a 12-5 record.
