Men's Tennis - Florent Marco, Junior, Eau Claire, Wis./MemorialMarco and the Blugolds went undefeated this weekend in three matches, all of which the Blugolds won 9-0. In singles play, he won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 against St. Norbert and 6-2, 6-2 against Lawrence. He ended the weekend playing in the No. 1 spot against MSOE and finished with a scores of 6-3, 6-3. He also competed in one doubles match against MSOE and he and partner Zach Katz won 8-2 in the No. 3 spot. For the season, he is now 7-3 in singles competition and has won five straight. Marco is also 5-2 in doubles play, and has won four straight.
Softball: Position - Taylor Pierce, Infield, 5-2, Freshman, Green Bay, Wis./AshwaubenonFreshman Taylor Pierce started her collegiate career in a big way, providing the game-winning hits in both games against Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) on Saturday. In game one she hit a three-run triple in the bottom of the eighth to give the Blugolds a season-opening win (6-5), while in game two, her seventh inning solo home run held up for the final margin (5-4), as the Blugolds opened 2012 with a sweep over the Gusties.
Gymnastics: All-Around - Danielle Schulzetenberg, Junior, Maple Grove, Minn.Schulzetenberg won three events and took first in the all-around competition as the Blugolds defeated UW-Oshkosh 183.000-178.575. She recorded season-best marks in the all-around, floor exercise, uneven bars and balance beam. Schulzetenberg was first in the all-around with a score of 36.750 and had a 9.600 in the floor exercise. On the balance beam, she recorded a 9.575 and finished with a 9.325 on the vault. She also had a season-high 8.250 on the uneven bars as she took ninth place.
