This week, Kalien helped the Blugolds split against conference opponents. On Wednesday in a 55-45 win over UW-Stout, Kalien started the game and pulled down two rebounds while coming away with two assists. Saturday against UW-Stevens Point, while the Blugolds lost 85-74, they stuck with the Pointers almost the entire way. In that game, Kalien led the Blugolds with 16 points and seven rebounds. He also had two assists and a steal.
Jundt, a senior captain, had a day Saturday in the Blugolds 4-1 win over non-conference opponent St. John’s University (Minn.). Jundt got the second period Blugold offensive run going when he scored the first goal of the night on the power play opportunity at 7:25. The Blugolds scored three goals over a five-minute stretch in the second period. He also got the lone assist on final third period goal of the night.
Plendl played a large role as the Blugolds split against conference opponents this week. In a 77-43 win over UW-Stout on Wednesday, she finished with a double-double as she scored 14 points while pulling down 10 rebounds. At UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, while the Blugolds fell just short 64-60, Plendl recorded her eighth double-double of the season as she scored 18 points while coming away with 10 rebounds. For the week she was 12-for-16 from the floor and 8-for-10 from the free throw line. She also had 11 blocks, one steal and one assist.
As the Blugolds opened the season at the NCAA Division I Central Michigan Quad Meet, Solem took seventh place in the all-around competition. She scored a 34.350 after taking 19th on the balance beam, 21st on the vault and floor exercise and 24th on the uneven bars.
Simones helped lead the Blugolds to a 3-1 non-conference win over St. Mary’s University (Minn.) on Saturday. In that game, she scored the game-winning goal, which came in the second period. Friday night, Simones was part of the offense that scored the only goal in the 2-1 loss against the Cardinals. On the year, Simones has three goals and four assists.
Knutson scored the only goal of the night for the Blugolds as they lost to St. Mary’s University (Minn.) 2-1 Friday night. She took advantage of the power play opportunity in the second period and scored an unassisted goal at 14:49. On Saturday night, Knutson was on the offense when the Blugolds scored their last goal of the day, an empty netter in the last minutes of the game, in the 3-1 non-conference win.
At the Maranatha Duals this weekend, Rieckhoff finished the day 4-0. Rieckhoff won three matches by decision and another with a pin. He opened the day pinning his Maranatha opponent in 2:35 and then won the other matches with scores of 7-0, 6-0 and 7-1.
